40% of the Japanese population suffers from hay fever every year.

Daily, it costs the nation around 232 billion yen.

However, the struggle stretches far beyond Japan.

Hay fever affects more than 400 million people worldwide

Current solutions for hayfever include antihistamines, immunosuppressants, and steroids

But these often have several side effects and a limited efficacy

We now present our two new solutions

1. Narirutin Biosynthesis

Narirutin, a flavonoid compound mainly found in the Jabara fruit, has anti-allergic effects without adverse side effects. We will biosynthesize Narirutin in yeast and create a yeast platform that can withhold a total of seven transformations.

2. Fusion Peptide

We will design a fusion peptide using immunomodulatory peptides and cleavable linkers that manage the effects of the peptides, to tackle the entirety of the hayfever pathway.

Our goal is to take a holistic approach in tackling hay fever and implementing narirutin and the fusion peptide into the product of a nasal spray
