An E. coli System for Combating Phenanthrene and Naphthalene Pollution
PAHs exert persistent toxic effects on both humans and animals. Taking two relatively simple PAHs—naphthalene and phenanthrene—as examples, we aim to engineer Escherichia coli with the nah, phn, and rhl gene clusters from Pseudomonas and other species to establish a more efficient pathway for their degradation.
