Biocompatible Matrix for Burn Wound Repair
Burn injuries affect over
10,000,000
people worldwide each year. Despite medical advances,
many wounds still heal poorly, become infected, and
leave lifelong scars.
Antibiotics have long been used to
prevent infection,
but rising antimicrobial resistance makes burn
wound infections harder to treat. Without new
solutions, the problem will only worsen.
Our goal is to develop a biocompatiblecasein-propolis matrix.
Just like the scaffolding at a construction site, it doesn’t rebuild the house itself, but provides the structure cells need to repair tissue.
By incorporating bacteriophages,
this approach allows us to support skin regeneration while protecting the wound from
infection, combining natural antimicrobial and structural properties in a single material.
We could transform burn care globally
by helping patients recover faster, reducing complications, and creating a safer, more sustainable future for wound treatment.
