Overview

Inspiration

 In recent years, terms like "zero sugar," "zero calories," and "zero fat" have emerged as key trends in the food industry. From sugar-free beverages to low-fat health meals, consumers are increasingly embracing these "zero" labels with enthusiasm. The production and applies of sugar substitutes have become a strategic way for expanding industrial chains. Therefore, we believe it's crucial to enhance public understanding of sugar substitutes—particularly rare sugars like D-allulose—and promote their recognition as beneficial resources for social development. This will enable both food industry and society to effectively utilize these resources.

Design

 We implement a comprehensive age-targeted strategy focusing on student communities, working professionals, and senior citizens. Through in-depth research on the application potential and public awareness of allulose – a novel artificial sweetener – we systematically gather social demands, disseminate health knowledge, and collaborate with industry experts and iGEM community members. This ensures our research project (high-efficiency biosynthesis of D-allulose) remains closely aligned with real-world health needs, effectively bridging the gap between synthetic biology technology and everyday life applications.

 In addition, in combination with the characteristics of AI design in projects, we believe it is necessary to undertake the educational task of synthetic biology, so that the potential of AI-assisted synthetic biology to boost industry and social progress has become a social consensus.

Map

  • Stage 1: Build a team, from the team to the campus, determine the research objectives and project value, and actively do a good job in the promotion of the project;
  • Stage 2: Actively communicate project ideas and organizational experience with team PI and iGEM teams, and communicate industrial experience with enterprises;
  • Stage 3: Contact with the society and organize students to go to elderly communities all over the country to participate in in-depth research and health diet promotion;
  • Stage 4: Formulate characteristic promotion strategies according to the research results of dry experiment and wet experiment, actively promote the efficacy of D-allulose to the society, and enhance the societal impact of synthetic biology research.
