Hi everyone, I'm Xiaoyi Li. As the deputy team leader, I'm a passionate biology major who has always been fascinated by life sciences. I'm dedicated to exploring the endless possibilities of our world with a positive and proactive attitude. I firmly believe that synthetic biology has the power to shape the future, and I'm excited to lead our team in collaborating, innovating, and tackling challenges—using the power of science to bring a positive and meaningful impact to humanity and society.

He's a wonderfully weird guy who brings abstract chaos to the lab one minute (occasionally losing his marbles), and is a passionate synbio evangelist the next. Also, it's worth mentioning he's an absolute pro at growing E. coli.

Hello everyone, my name is Heying Dai, and I go by Daisy. I'm currently a junior at Northeast Forestry University (NEFU), majoring in a field where my passions for microbiology, molecular biology, and synthetic biology converge. I am one of three wet lab leaders for our team, NEFU-CHINA. My primary responsibility is to spearhead the latter two steps of our biosynthetic pathway, focusing on the conversion of p-aminobenzoic acid (p-ABA) to 2-amino-4-acetylphenol (AAP). This role requires not only precision in the lab but also strong leadership to ensure our experiments proceed smoothly and effectively. As a determined Capricorn and an enthusiastic ENFJ, I'm driven to overcome challenges and foster a collaborative spirit within our team. I'm truly excited to be part of the iGEM community and look forward to connecting with and learning from all of you.

Zhihan Qu is an undergraduate student in the third year of the Biological Sciences programme at Northeast Forestry University. As a member of the NEFU-China wet lab team, she actively analyses and resolves numerous issues encountered during the team's experiments. Two consecutive years of work have not diminished her passion for biology; she still pauses to observe nature, feeling a deep-seated love and admiration for the diverse phenomena of life. (She particularly enjoys watching Ruddy Shelduck gliding through the water.)

My name is Jinyu Bai, a student majoring in Biotechnology at Northeast Forestry University. I am delighted to participate in the iGEM competition as a member of NEFU-China. I have always had a deep passion for the discipline of biology and regard it as one of my life's pursuits. I hope to master biology well, use my knowledge to benefit the world, and bring more laughter and less suffering to it.

A professional procrastinator who thrives (yes, really) in the final push before deadlines—paired with the unshakable habit of chasing every due date to the finish line. An experienced overthinker who zeros in on small details others might miss, and a consistent self-critic who uses that edge to tweak work until it feels right. Glad to be part of the team

Let’s make a difference together!

Hello, I'm Zuo Beizhi, an explorer willing to build dreams for scientific research. Scientific research is a sacred thing. The unknown always makes people both scared and curious. And I think both of these are the reasons that drive people to explore the truth. The unknown is really maddening. Perhaps it's not that easy to explore a thing thoroughly. The deeper one delves into a matter, the more confusing it becomes. But if one doesn't lose interest in the unknown, perseverance will be the key to opening the door to the truth.

Research Focus:
The laboratory focuses on lignin, a core component of the plant secondary cell wall. We utilize model plants like Arabidopsis thaliana to investigate its biosynthesis and regulatory mechanisms, and to explore the role of lignin in plant growth, development, and plant-biotic/abiotic stress responses. Beyond studying the biological mechanisms of lignin biosynthesis and metabolism, the team is also dedicated to translating fundamental research findings into practical applications to enhance the quality and yield of forest, forage, and crop species.

Research Focus:
Utilizing experimental materials such as birch, poplar, Manchurian ash, and ornamental kale, the research primarily centers on plant reproductive biology. It focuses specifically on the molecular regulatory mechanisms of self-incompatibility and interspecific hybridization incompatibility. The approaches include employing multi-omics methods to screen for key genes and signaling pathways controlling incompatibility; using gene editing and other techniques to elucidate gene function; and applying molecular biology methods to decipher the molecular regulatory mechanisms.
