Meet Our Team

My name is Ruohan Ding, and I am a member of the experimental group. I find great joy and energy in immersing myself in nature—it is one of my favorite ways to recharge. This love for the natural world is also what sparked my passion for biology. Beyond academics, I enjoy reading a wide range of books, from science fiction to works of realism. I am truly excited to be part of SMS-Shenzhen 2025.

Hi！ I’m Silvia. A 16-year-old high school student from Shenzhen Middle School. I’m enjoy novels and movies in my daily life. I am also interested in experiments and biology. That’s why I participated in the experiments of our iGEM project. During this process, I really hope to gain more knowledge about genetic engineering and contribute to our project.

My name is Jingxi Zhang, or I prefer Jessie, I love biology and chemistry, and also my job in Human Practice and promotion such as making videos and interview. They bring me interesting experience and I can learn more skills by doing different kinds of jobs. I hope to use synthetic biology to solve more problems in daily life and promote them to more people.

I am Jianing Zheng from Shenzhen Middle School, 11th grade. I am the leader of engineering team. I am responsible for the whole engineering experiments, and I also take part in work of human practices as well as the hardware production. It's my pleasure to finish such a project with all my teammates.

Hi, everyone, I am Michael Du. I am currently studying the A-Levels in Shenzhen Middle School. I’m a big fan of football and Formula one, and of course, biology. I’m especially interested in exploring the world of synthetic biology because I found it exhilarating to design and engineer the codes which determine how lives work and to endow them with values that can make our world a better place.

In the team, I'm willing to work with other classmates to do things well and complete detailed tasks. I will do my best to complete the tasks assigned to me in the project. I hope that with our hard work, we can do our project well together.

My name is Kevin and my position is a member of the experimental group. My favorite subjects are chemistry and biology, because I like to find the principals hidden beneath the surface of phenomena. I am a very outgoing and cheerful person. I like playing basketball and watching novels. I wish our team could go further in this competition. Let’s look forward to it together.

Hi, everyone, I am Ethan. I am a member of the wiki group. I am good at Maths and Geography. Outside of school, I love travelling and photographing, especially filming trains and planes. I am always deeply fascinated when I see amazing sceneries like Auroras and evening glows. I am excited to devote myself to contributing to our project.

As an INTP who enjoys shifting between introspection and extroversion, I see life and biology as a canvas of extraordinary chemical reactions. Hi, I am Sirui Qin, a 16 years old student in Shenzhen Middle school. I enjoy lots of sports, such as climbing, hiking and playing soccer. I am obsessed with biology because studying how living organisms work and affect each other is very amazing. I really appreciate IGEM for allowing me the chance to enter a real lab and learn about the theories from true experiments. Hi everyone! I am Murong He. I really enjoy viewing the world and solving the problems in reality through minor perspectives of biology, and this is why I choose to join the iGEM competition. I believe that the ultimate goal of scientific development is to promote social progress and enhance the well-being and convenience of humanity, so I joined the Human Practice group, undertaking the responsibility of applicatiing and promoting our project.

Hi, I am Shuohan Yang from SMS-Shenzhen. Working in the experiment group in our team, I’m mainly responsible for conducting experiments and organizing experimental data. Beyond this project, I’ m a student passionate about biology and medicine and hoping to truly help more people in the future. I enjoy working and spending my free time alone and love experiencing things in my life with passion.

I'm Muxu Zhang, a 16-year-old student at Shenzhen Middle School and a member of the SMSiGEM 2025 Human Practices team. I design promotional materials and enjoy drawing, literature, and music like Vocaloid and Shoegaze. I truly value iGEM as it gives me opportunities to apply my skills. I’m looking forward to learn from other projects and building meaningful connections.

Hello！ My name is Kyle, and I am a high school student passionate about science and innovation. I enjoy exploring biology, chemistry, and engineering, especially when it comes to solving real-world problems through creative projects. As part of the iGEM team, I am excited to contribute to product design and modeling. Outside the lab, I love reading, teamwork, and challenging myself to think critically and creatively.

I’m Yichen Liu, one of the former student leaders of the SMS-Shenzhen Team in the 2024 iGEM competition and currently serving as an advisor to the 2025 team. I aim to contribute by sharing my knowledge in biology and the experience I gained from iGEM, offering guidance in both experimental work and project planning.

My name is Fang Shuo, and I'm a 2022 undergraduate student majoring in clinical medicine at the Southern University of Science and Technology. I enjoy a wide range of sports and nature, including badminton and canoeing. As the HP leader for last year's SUSTech-Med 2024 team, I'm serving as the advisor for SMS-Shenzhen this year. Nothing beats a jet2 iGEM.

Hi, I am Jingda Zhu from shenzhen middle school, actually I am a chemistry teacher at school who is interested in biology synthesis since my high school life. I participated in a memory engineering project during my college life and still remember the joy and mysteries behind it . It is with great pleasure to take part in this iGEM program to explore the field of biology with my students.
