Wet Lab
Zhenghang Zhou
Hi! I'm Albert from Ashbury College, passionate about biopharmacy and synthetic biology, especially in areas like cancer immunotherapy and CRISPR-based technologies. Growing up in a family of doctors and entrepreneurs, I've always been curious about how science can be translated into therapies that help vulnerable groups. At iGEM, I'm excited to contribute my research experience, creativity, and teamwork spirit—whether that's in wet lab work, project design, or making our ideas more impactful beyond the lab. Outside of science, I'm a cyclist and swimmer, training for triathlons, which I think also teaches me perseverance and collaboration.

Lujia Wang
Hello there! My name is Wang Lujia. I am a Grade 11 student at Ulink College of Shanghai. My interest in biology began two years ago during an experiment where I took a microscopic look at my own oral epithelial cells. I was deeply impressed to see such distinct, petal-like structures within my body. I kept this inspiration alive and began exploring biology further using the tools of chemistry and mathematics. Now, I've reached a higher stage to expand my understanding of biology, particularly synthetic biology, through my participation in iGEM. I expect that both my team members and I will learn significantly and grow through this experience.

Therefore, I was mainly responsible for the work of experiments, including plasmid extraction and electrophoresis test, DNA recylce, double and single transformation of DNA, fermentation test and many other jobs. I enjoy the days in lab and try to learn as much bio-lab experiences as I could. I'm also in charge of the final offline oral dfense and presentation. Hope I can enjoy the journey, improve myself and will try my best to bring a golden medal back. :)
Shuangrui Yang
Hi everyone! I'm Yang Shuangrui, a biotech student working on Parkinson's treatment with my iGEM team. My fascination with biology started in childhood—raising silkworms in shoeboxes and wondering how tiny organisms solve big problems. That curiosity deepened during COVID, when I volunteered at a community clinic and saw firsthand how Parkinson's tremors affect daily life—like an elderly patient struggling to hold a water cup. It showed me that this isn't just about science; it's about dignity. In the lab, our team collaborates on engineering E. coli to target α-synuclein pathways. We spend days optimizing plasmids and troubleshooting together—last week, we fine-tuned a promoter sequence by cross-checking data across three different strains. Visiting neurology wards taught us why we do this: a patient shared how her tremors made family dinners difficult. Now, every experiment feels personal—we're not just manipulating bacteria; we're building tools for real people. iGEM bridges textbooks and humanity for me. Synthetic biology here isn't abstract; it's a way to turn struggles into solutions. I'm excited to share ideas at Jamboree because solving Parkinson's needs teamwork—across labs, disciplines, and stories.
Yunzhi Ye
My name is Ye Yunzhi. I'm 16 years old, and I'm from Shanghai Arete Bilingual School. I'm going to be in grade 11 after summer holiday, and I'm planning to study IB diploma. I'm mainly interested in contents of life science, especially things related to veterinary. For my hobby, I enjoy playing basketball and badminton as my favorite and the sport I'm mostly familiar with. I also like to listen and sing along to pop music to motivate myself in daily life. During the training, I've gained a lot of experience that can be helpful for my future carrier. I've got to use various kinds of experimental tools , such as pipettes, centrifuge, PCR machine, etc. It helps me get familiar with the skills of using them and make my future laboratory work more efficient. I've also get to try the process of combining plasmids, which I've only learnt in the text book in the past. This helps me be more familiar with genetics technology and understand how to make them practical.
