Hi all, I'm Charlotte, currently a Y13 student at DHSZ. I like to collect insect specimens, except for cockroaches of course. I'm an extrovert who enjoys making friends and travelling around the world. I hope to have 5 cats, 5 dogs, 3 spiders, 2 snakes, 3 lizards, and 5 Dutch pigs in the future.

Hi, this year is my Y13 in Dulwich and also the second year I participate in iGEM. I’m still fascinated by synthetic biology and microbiology. I’m working on the final part of the project. Let's gain a gold medal this year!

Hi! I am currently a Year 13 student in DHSZ and this is my second year participating in iGEM since I find biology really fascinating and attractive, especially the parts about genes. In my spare time, I like playing badminton, playing the guitar and swimming, which helps me to relax. werwer

Tried to study computer science but got an E in AS exam, and knew nothing about biology at all before iGEM. I'm Mingda Wang, a member for both last year and this year in Dulwich iGEM team. I’m trying to make our team back to glory. Feel free to ask me about Biology-related stuff, as my answers would be the dumbest ones you've seen.

Hi! I'm a senior student from DHSZ. I am very fond of synthetic biology, which is also the reason why I joined iGEM. I am a rather introverted person. In my spare time, I enjoy looking for fun horror games and watching horror movies alone under the covers on rainy days.

Hi, I'm Jerry from Y11. I love playing games and football! On the pitch, I'm a football philosopher. My specialty? Asking the ball deep questions, like "Where are you going?" My tackles are more like unexpected hugs. Still training!

Hiii! I'm currently a Y13 student from DHSZ. This is my second time participating in iGEM. I'm still very excited about it. This year's topic is exactly my interest, which is water environment treatment. So I have lots of fun and a fantastic experience with my teammates. Love everyone (heart)

Murdoch Mackay
Murdoch graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Hertfordshire in 2006. He worked as a Research and Development Scientist for Lonza Biologics in bioassay development where he worked on the development, optimization, and validation of cell-based assays to determine the activity of anti-cancer therapies. Murdoch completed his QTS in 2010. He has been teaching Biology for 10 years and has been teaching in China for the last 8 years. He is now the assistant head at DHSZ.

I'm Edward Wu, a determined participant in the iGEM competition. Despite facing the challenge of blindness, I have never let it hinder my passion for synthetic biology and innovation. With a strong belief in the power of science to break down barriers, I've devoted myself to exploring novel solutions alongside my team. My journey in iGEM is a testament to the limitless potential of human ingenuity, proving that vision is not confined to sight alone. Together, we're shaping a brighter future through the lens of scientific discovery and contribute to the diversity of the team. Trained to be a doctor but swapped stethoscopes for whiteboards, now running Year 13 at Dulwich Suzhou while moonlighting as a molecular biologist studying how amino acids flip the mTOR switch in liver cancer. Outside the classroom and lab, time is spent building computers, breaking code (then fixing it), and geeking out over sci-fi. Can quote Harry Potter and Game of Thrones line for line, with the real superhero being the ability to make mitochondria — electron orbitals, not magical dragons — sound equally cool. (Likes going to bed early so students can’t reach me; loves drinking large bottles of Mizone and McDonald’s across from the school)

Currently a junior at Wake Forest University, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The US News ranking for this school was 28 when I enrolled, so I'm still a student at a Top 30 university in the US (NO DOUBT!!). My research focus is now on the RNA modification enzyme TIS, working with Dr. Alexander, a fantastic female scientist, at the Wake Downtown lab. Outside labs and classrooms, I love playing soccer. I still remember the time when I was the captain of the DHSZ soccer team three years ago. DAMN! Time flies. I still love playing soccer now, but have shifted a little towards tennis, BJJ, and drinking non-alcoholic beers. Regarding iGEM, I served as captain of the DHSZ team in 2022. We won the gold medal that year. Shout out to George, Jason, Amanda, Mr. Umer, Mr. Mackay, and all the people who helped. Being part of the team this year was one of the best things I've ever done, and I will always miss the Diet Coke at iGEM time.
