Our Grand Jamboree Experience

Our incredible iGEM journey reached its highlight at the 2025 Grand Jamboree in Paris, and we’re beyond excited to share our success with you! We proudly brought home:

  • Gold Medal🏅
  • Special Prize for Best Hardware ⚙️
  • 4 nominations: Best New Basic Part (Overgrad); Best New Composite Part (Overgrad), Best Presentation (Overgrad), Best Space Project (Undergrad & Overgrad)
The Jamboree was an unforgettable experience filled with innovation, inspiration, and connection. We had the chance to meet brilliant teams from around the world, share our results, and exchange ideas that will continue to shape the future of synthetic biology. We’re deeply grateful for the recognition from the iGEM community and for all the support we’ve received throughout our journey. This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that defined our project from start to finish. A huge congratulations to all the amazing teams and prize winners, it was an honor to celebrate science and creativity together in Paris!

Best New Basic Part We documented a new biological Part that efficiently converts toxic chlorite into harmless chloride and oxygen. See its usage and characterization: BBa_25VZ3X3W
Best New Composite Part We documented and characterized a part encoding perchlorate reductase which converts perchlorate into chlorite. We investigated a semi-anaerobic activity assay and purification of this enzyme. See methods and characterization: BBa_254G21JZ
Best Hardware We offer an open-source bioreactor for affordable, modular microbial cultivation and a Random Positioning Machine (RPM) that enables accessible simulation of microgravity and partial gravity for space biology research, both reproducible for under 200 €.
