Mars Agriculture Revolution
With the development of space technology, such as the recent rocket recycling and reuse technology, the cost of space transportation has greatly decreased, and immigration to Mars may become a reality in the near future.

The Challenge
If we can really make people permanently settle on this red planet in the future, what can we eat on Mars?

The Problem
The extreme environment on the surface of Mars, such as dryness and extreme temperatures, makes it impossible for Earth crops to grow normally on Mars, and humans are unable to establish a self-sufficient survival system.

Our Solution
To address this issue, the WUXI-DSAS team proposed a solution to endow plants with tolerance to the Martian environment. By integrating stress resistant genes with different functions in plants, the tolerance of plants to extreme environments is enhanced, thereby reducing energy and water consumption in plant greenhouses, and even allowing plants to be directly planted on the surface of Mars.

Earth Applications
At the same time, this technology can also be applied to crop cultivation under extreme conditions on Earth.
