As a large group consisting of 18 students coming from different year groups, our team places a big emphasis on teamwork and collaboration. To integrate our varied experiences and personalities and build a cohesive unit, throughout the year we hosted team-building events like interactive games or fun group meals. This serves as opportunities to get to know each other better and to ignite the team spirit so that when working together, a supportive and open environment may be fostered. The trust we built in the group allows us to plow through obstacles with a unified spirit.
The inaugural team building event of the year sets a positive tone for the months ahead. Designed to foster unity and to strengthen connections within the group, a series of games were organized and food was ordered, creating a fun and relaxing night for members and advisors of the team.
Enjoyable collaborative games such as charades and undercover were played. As the game progressed, the team gradually became more expressive. Initially shy and reserved in their actions, they eventually opened up. These games allowed for the promotion of teamwork while enhancing group cohesion, encouraging communication, problem-solving, and trust.

After our visit to the fish farm in Hong Kong we had some time for teambuilding. What is better for teambuilding than having a BBQ?
To ensure everyone could enjoy the day to the fullest, the barbecue was thoughtfully divided into two sections: a meat station and a vegetarian station. The meat selection featured a variety of fresh cuts, from juicy marinated chicken thighs and tender beef skewers to plump sausages, all chosen for their grilling potential. For vegetarian members, there were equally enticing options such as: delicious corn on the cobb, charred bell peppers, zucchini slices, and sweet potatoes. All the food was personally selected and grilled by us.
What made the meal truly special was that every dish was prepared entirely by the team. Cooking together, enjoying ice cold drinks and sharing time together is a perfect recipe to get to know each other better. This team-building event was both enjoyable and successful for our group. Through collaboration and mutual support, we strengthened and solidified our team relationships. It was a reminder that collaboration, mutual support, and a little bit of fun are the ingredients that make our IGEM team truly strong.

As an end-of-year project, we decided to do something fun and relaxing but also serving some educational purposes—and what’s better than a charity sale! With special thanks to our principal and teachers who volunteered to help, the first annual BBSG-iGem charity sale launched with a great start. Members of the team continued to make the charity sale shine through efficient collaboration: dividing responsibilities for taking orders, food preparation, and promotion of our project. This collective effort resulted in a memorable event engaging parents, students, and the faculty.
From this project, the team gained a lot of benefits. Through this event, team members learned to work together more seamlessly, enhancing the teamwork spirit highly emphasized in the BBSG-item team. Moreover, we promoted our project to parents and teachers as well as school visitors, hoping to raise awareness in heart diseases. Finally, the sale was a great success where we gained 2000RMB in profit. We are proud to have donated these to local heart foundations. Even though the sum is modest, it represents a meaningful contribution that we, as high school students, can do to help the society.
