About our team
Greetings from the 2025 GT iGEM team! We are a cohort of nineteen dedicated students in grades 9 through 12 from G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College in Hong Kong. While our individual strengths and scientific backgrounds are diverse, we are united by a common purpose: to leverage the power of synthetic biology. Our team is driven to explore innovative, biological solutions to pressing environmental challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Team Leaders
Sophie Cheung
As one of the team leaders and a member of the Human Practice team, Sophie is passionate about the crucial mission of promoting sustainable solutions and championing environmental change. She believes that effective outreach and impactful communication are essential to driving the positive change needed to build a better world for all. Complementing this drive, she finds harmony in Music, expressed through singing, piano and the cello.
Isaak Chiu
Isaak is one of the team leaders of the team and a member of both the research and technology teams. He is in charge of experiments and data analysis. Some of his extracurricular activities include Japanese language and tracking tropical cyclones.
Sub Leaders
Hinson Ng
Hinson is a leader of the Research team. He is in charge of lab and research works. He enjoys exploring technology and engineering, seeking innovative and practical solutions to improve our daily lives, while also having a keen interest in racing.
Anson Au
Anson is one of the Research team leaders and a member of the technology team. He is in charge of lab and research work and enjoys coding and doing lab work. He is always willing to learn new things.
Hayley Pun
Hayley is one of the team leaders of the Human practice team and a member of the research team. She is passionate about conducting hands-on experiments. She enjoys listening to music, playing basketball and watching horror movies in her leisure time.
Yolanda Tse
Being one of the Human Practice team leaders and a member of the research team, Yolanda enjoys participating in lab experiments, and broadening her understanding by learning from the perspectives of others.
Sean Wong
Sean is one of the team leaders of the Technology Team. He is very hardworking and fond of discovering new things in the fields of chemistry and biotechnology, while he also enjoys playing the piano and badminton in his leisure time.
Donovan Cheung
Being one of the team leaders of the Technology Team, Donovan is interested in mathematics and AI. He enjoys delivering complex ideas using simple words. Some of his extracurricular activities include playing the cello, singing, and the board game Go (Weiqi).

Clarissa Ho
As part of the members in Human Practice team, Clarissa hopes to share her passion in biology by educating the public on complex topics with interactive and engaging activities. Outside of biotechnology, she also enjoys playing guitar and drums, and hopes to spread positivity with her interests.
Emmanuel Chan
Emmanuel is a member of the Research Team and the Human Practice team. He is passionate about Maths and various scientific investigations. He enjoys communicating with the team and improving through gaining experiences. Besides iGEM, he enjoys Music, reading and deep thinking.
Katie Ngai
Hello. My name is Katie, and I am a member of the Human Practice team. I am passionate about science and love to observe and investigate. I find that life is always more interesting when we explore and discover new things. Beyond my work, I enjoy traveling, singing, cooking and drawing.
Leanne Chan
Leanne is a member of the Human Practice team. She is interested in science, especially biology, and is passionate about learning new knowledges and exploring new things. Besides lab works, she also enjoys creating artworks and reading books.
Daniel Wong
Daniel is a member of the Technology team. He is passionate about coding, AI, Maths and arts. He believes by combining these skills will create innovative interfaces and algorithms. He is curious, open to challenges, and constantly seeks opportunities to learn and grow. In his free time, you’ll often find him on the basketball court.
Bryan Leung
Bryan is a member of the research team. He has great interest in mathematics, science and research. He also spends his free time playing the piano.
Chloe Yeung
Chloe is a research team member whose enthusiasm for biochemistry and synthetic biology is driven by hands-on learning. She likes to improve the project through continuous iteration.
Elly Luo
Elly is a member and student advisor of the research team. She is driven by a deep curiosity and passion towards research and science. She is also a supportive and eager teammate who is willing talk and share new ideas.
Nathan Ching
Nathan is a member of the technology team. He has an interest in engineering, computer science and sports. He enjoys reading and playing basketball in his leisure time.
David Wong
David is a member and student advisor of the Technology team with great interests in computer science, biology, mathematics, and art. He enjoys playing basketball in his free time.
Adrian Chu
Adrian is a member of the technology team while participated in different activities for research team and human practice. He has an interest in biology, engineering and sports. He enjoys playing basketball and watching anime during his free time.

Mr. Kelvin Cheng is an AI and STEM teacher of our school. He is also a supervisor of iGEM 2025. He provides the technical support and advice to our team.

Prof. Clive Lo
Prof. Lo is an Associate Professor of School of Biological Science at The University of Hong Kong. His research interests are plant secondary metabolism and metabolic engineering. He provides every support to bring science learning opportunities for high school students.

Theodore Leung
Theodore is a freshman at UC Berkeley, majoring in chemical biology. He was one of the research team leaders of HKGTC in 2023.
Boris Au-Yeung
Boris is a GT graduate that is currently studying medicine in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was one of the team leaders in the 2023 HKGTC iGEM team.
Anson Ng
Anson is a GT alumli in the UK who does a verity of research, and was the also team leader and Human Practice team leader of HKGTC iGEM 2023.
Matthew Tang
Matthew is a grade 12 student from G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College. He was a human practice team member of the 2023 HKGTC iGEM Team.
