Meet the Team
We are the Marburg iGEM Team 2025, NRPieceS, a group of 22 dedicated and passionate students.
Our team name is a fusion of non-ribosomal peptide synthetases (NRPS) and pieces. NRPS are modular enzymes that produce non-ribosomal peptides (NRPs) - small bioactive molecules not synthesized by the ribosome. The word pieces reflects the modular nature of these enzymes. Their individual domains can be swapped and reassembled like puzzle pieces, enabling us to design novel compounds with new functions.
