Inclusivity is a core value that we uphold and practice throughout all iGEM activities, and it is also reflected in the composition of our team.
Team Composition & Culture
Within the team, we strive to embody this commitment in multiple ways. Our members represent diverse nationalities, cultural backgrounds, native languages, time zones, genders, and self-identities. In such a diverse environment, everyone is encouraged to communicate openly, share opinions equally, and take on leadership roles. Nearly every student and teacher has contributed to the team’s leadership development, something we are deeply proud of and actively continue to encourage.
Engaging External Stakeholders
We also apply the principle of inclusivity in our interactions with external stakeholders. In our survey, we collected responses from individuals of different genders, educational backgrounds, social identities, and age groups, gaining valuable perspectives from their feedback. Additionally, we strive to connect with friends worldwide and invite them to share their views on global warming, further broadening the diversity of voices we engage with.
Future Commitment
Looking ahead, we will continue to use inclusivity as a guiding principle in advancing our scientific research and practice. In doing so, we aim to deepen our understanding, strengthen our awareness, and improve our implementation of inclusivity in meaningful ways.
