We completed all required safety and compliance steps with our institution's Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) to ensure we used Pseudomonas aeruginosa Exotoxin A (ExoA) safely. Our ExoA gene fragments were engineered and handled in non-toxic, non-functional forms, and our work received approval from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and our Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). The IBC reviews and approves research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acids and other biohazards, and it operates under the NIH Guidelines.
