Theodosis Tousis

Theodosis is the leader of the iGEM team. He is passionate about biology and plans to study in the USA. He joined iGEM to gain research experience and lead a team that shares his interest in science. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and going to the gym.

Electra joined iGem because she is super passionate about biomedical engineering, rare diseases and synthetic biology. She's obsessed with Tru-Fru and rice crispies and she's on a mission to try every chocolate chip cookie all around the world!

Eleni

Eleni Tsavdaroglou

Role: Head of Wiki

Tasks: Wiki Coding, Writing, Visualization

Eleni has a strong interest in coding and computer science, which led her to become part of the MAVericks team as Head of the Wiki. She enjoys exploring new technologies and finding creative ways to bring ideas to life through programming. In her spare time, you can often find her experimenting with new coding projects or diving into topics that deepen her understanding of the field.

Pafsanias

Pafsanias Galanis

Galanis Pafsanias is in Grade 12 (IB2) and part of the finance team. He helped raise sponsorships and supported many tasks and campaigns. He is energetic and social, while always happy to meet new people. He loves trying new foods and also enjoys BJJ, practising in his free time. His friends make school life easier getting some weight from his shoulders. He plans to study business administration and human relations, outside of science. This year he wants to learn more about that field. And finally his long-term goal is to stay happy and make his family proud.

Lida

Lida Aikaterinari

Role: Head of Human Practices

Tasks: Public Engagement, Visualization

Lida, the head of Maverick’s human practices department, pursued iGEM because of her love for public speaking, communication and science. She juggled the organization of multiple events, the projection of the team and the coordination of the Human Practices department while holding meetings with her other team members. She devotes a lot of her free time to public speaking and advocacy. She also loves mathematics and physics. She is really invested in problems in the sectors of engineering and sustainability, trying to bring forward innovation to real world issues. Through iGEM, she hopes to inspire and educate younger generations about the future of STEM and promote more sustainable yet creative practices.

Chrysovalantis Sismanidis

Valantis is an explorer and wonderer, obsessed with the weird and wild, from the penguins in Antarctica to alien worlds he sets aside schoolwork and deadlines (not really) while he goes after chasing life beyond earth. iGEM is his way of familiarizing with science, and he hopes to use his iGEM knowledge in his future endeavors.

Yukai (Matteo) Huang

Matteo isn't too sure of what he wants to pursue in the future just yet (though he says he wants to study neuroscience) but he's confident he will find a path. Even though he's constantly grappling with deadlines, he decided to join iGem because he wanted to gain insight into synthetic biology and bioengineering, and also of course because of his friends and beloved chemistry teacher.

Cleopatra is an enthusiastic student and a dedicated member of the IGEM Team of Anatolia High School, where she plays a key role in the wet lab. Working closely with other teammates, she is responsible for maintaining the wet lab notebook, ensuring that every experiment, protocol, and result is carefully documented with precision and clarity. Her meticulous approach and strong sense of responsibility make her an essential part of the research process. Beyond her technical skills, Cleopatra brings creativity, teamwork, and a passion for synthetic biology that inspire her peers and elevate the team’s scientific spirit.

Mara Christou, an IB2 student at Anatolia High School, is a member of the wet lab team. She balances experiments and deadlines with the same focus she brings to swimming, where she finds clarity and energy. Despite the challenges, she approaches both science and life with steady determination.

Zoi

Zoi Triantafyllidou

Tasks: Public Engagement, Visualization

Zoi, an 11th grader joined the iGEM team with curiosity for how science can shape a more sustainable and equitable world. She’s passionate about gene-editing, but also its intersection with morality and ethics. She’s involved in diplomacy and advocacy groups, sustainability, and social responsibility programs, driven by her desire to help the community. Zoi’s room is full of post-it notes and little reminders to keep her on track. In the future, she hopes to bring about an impact in sectors that support human rights and ethics.

Nefeli, an 11th grader with a bubbly spirit, joined the iGEM team as part of the wiki group, bringing her creativity and infectious energy to the group. She’s always doodling in the margins of her notebook—tiny bacteria with big eyes or DNA strands turned into floral patterns. While high school life can be chaotic, Nefeli tackles it with laughter, color, and an unshakable passion for both science and art. She hopes to grow in a world where curiosity and creativity are always welcome companions.

George Gymnopoulos, a 12th grader with a deep curiosity for life sciences, joined the iGEM team as part of the Human Practices department, where his thoughtful nature and passion for biology shine. Always eager to ask big questions about how science shapes society, George brings insight and empathy to the group, balancing his academic drive with a genuine care for people and the world around him.

Alexandros, an IB2 student with a keen interest in sciences, often finds himself exploring the fascinating details of how the world works. When he’s not immersed in experiments or schoolwork, he enjoys playing basketball, letting his mind wander between strategy and curiosity. Motivated by a desire to turn his scientific enthusiasm into real-world experience, he joined iGEM, hoping to tackle challenges alongside a team of like-minded peers while learning, experimenting, and having fun along the way.

Ioulieta Georgiou

Ioulieta is interested in biochemistry and learned about iGEM after being introduced to it by alumni of the competition, ultimately becoming part of the Wet Lab of our team. In her spare time, you may find her reading anything from non-fiction to classic literature, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee.

Ilias, an IB2 student, came into iGEM with the hopes of figuring out what he wants to do with his life. Even though he is still wondering the same thing, he has deeply enjoyed the experience in its highs and lows. In his spare times, he enjoyes watching movies and playing tennis.

Anastasia played a key leadership role in the Finance team. She actively participated in team meetings and guided her group with clarity. She contributed in securing sponsorships was instrumental to the team’s success. She developed a sponsorship proposal to attract potential partners and effectively represented the team at various events, including the Bazaar.

Ms. Antonakou brings her passion for chemistry to both the classroom and science activities — often disguising serious learning as “fun and games.” Fueled by coffee and curiosity, she makes complex science feel accessible and engaging. Her students know that behind every challenging activity lies a teacher who truly believes in their potential. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and listening to crime podcasts.

Mr Sotiriou is an enthusiastic educator who shares his love for Biology and Environmental Systems encouraging students to take responsibilities, think critically while enjoying the process. He believes that curiosity grows best when students feel comfortable to question, explore, and laugh in class. Outside of school, he enjoys travelling and watching football, always ready to debate with students about last night’s match.

Mr. Sarafidis is full of energy and enthusiasm and brings this in his chemistry classes, helping students connect scientific ideas to everyday life. With a background in inorganic chemistry and research in nanotechnology, he blends curiosity and creativity to make complex topics engaging and relevant. His lessons are colorful and structured, reflecting his belief that every student can succeed through curiosity and effort. Outside of school, he enjoys football, traveling, and sharing good Mediterranean food with friends.

Patient, thoughtful, and endlessly fascinated by how life works, she brings calm precision to every experiment. A proud mother of two, she finds joy in quiet moments — diving into a good book or a fascinating documentary rather than venturing outdoors. For Anneta, science isn’t just a career; it’s a passion that blends curiosity, care, and a love for understanding life’s hidden details.
