Meet the people behind HS-KY iGEM 2025!
Sabine Waigel is the Assistant Director of the Genomics Training and Education Center (GTEC) at the University of Louisville. She received her Dipl.-Ing. (FH) degree in Biotechnology from the FH Gießen-Friedberg in Germany.
Robert Monsen is an assistant professor of medicine and the director of the Molecular Modeling Facility at the UofL Health Brown Cancer Center. He obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Michael Martin is a senior engineer at the Nano Technology Center. He has a B.S. in physics from Austin Peay State University and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Louisville in cell biology.
Kalina Andreeva-Stallard is a dedicated laboratory researcher at the Genomics Training and Education Core (GTEC) at the University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center. She earned her PhD in Molecular Biology and Plant Genetics from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany. With over 20 years of diverse research experience spanning microbiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, and bioinformatics, Kalina brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her work.
Scott Arico is a science teacher at DuPont Manual High School. He has a MS in Applied Ecology from Eastern Kentucky University and a MAT in Secondary Biology from Bellarmine University.
Andrea Poole is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She has a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Aliete is a senior at Fern Creek High School and has been a part of the team for about a year. She is passionate about educational equality and connecting lab work to human interaction.

Sree is a senior at duPont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky who loves the biohumanities. When she's not working with iGEM, you can find her writing poetry or translating the Latin version of Harry Potter!

Hunter Earls is a high school senior at St. Xavier in Louisville, Kentucky. His work spans AI, education, and biotech, where he focus on building products that solve real problems and scale quickly.

Christian is a senior at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Kentucky. In his free time, you can find him at VEX Robotics competitions, playing tennis, or working on our fantastic iGEM project.

Vishwaa is a junior at duPont Manual High School and a third year iGEM competitor. He’s passionate about understanding how the world works. When he’s not experimenting or debugging, you can find him hanging out with his dog, Apollo, or wishing he could catch up on sleep.
