Graphic design is an indispensable asset for the Jiangnan - China team's participation in the iGEM competition. It serves as a powerful medium to bridge the gap between the team's scientific endeavors and the diverse audience, including fellow scientists and the general public.
The logo has a clear and structured design, ideal for accessibility. Its bright, contrasting colors (blue, green, yellow) make it highly distinguishable, even for those with color vision issues. Clean lines of the gear, shield, and molecular structures ensure readability and recognition, including for visually impaired people. It effectively represents "Bioshield" via symbols like the shield (protection), molecular chains (biology), and gear (tech integration), fitting the Jiangnan, China team's 2025 iGEM project aim.
To design the visual style of our "Bioshield" project, we prioritized readability and a modern look by choosing "Open Sans" and "Lato" as main fonts. "Open Sans" has a clean, sans - serif style, great for headlines with strong visual impact. "Lato" ensures good legibility in body text, perfect for presentations and posters. Combining them brings clarity and professionalism, enhancing the project's cohesive design.
Integrating graphic design and art into a project can remarkably boost public involvement and educational promotion. To raise the profile of our team and its endeavors, we created a set of custom stickers. These stickers feature a cute black cat, which represents a guardian in the dark night, and a virus - like figure with the words "Night Guardian" and "Corruption Ends!". The designs combine cute and scientific elements, ingeniously blending fun with knowledge dissemination. This way, we can effectively promote our team while making the relevant scientific ideas more accessible and memorable to a wider audience, thereby contributing to our overall public outreach and awareness - raising efforts.
The Jiangnan-China 2025 iGEM team has shown a strong commitment to visual clarity and engagement in presenting our project. Through well-thought-out graphic design elements, such as the strategic color combinations in our logo—with the gear symbolizing technical precision, the shield representing protection, and the molecular chains embodying life science exploration—and the visual appeal of our popular science materials and game interfaces, the team ensures that our project is easily understandable and attractive to a diverse audience. Additionally, our refined logo and the vivid visual elements in our educational game have strengthened our visual identity and outreach efforts. Overall, the integration of design in the Jiangnan-China 2025 project exemplifies a holistic approach to scientific communication, emphasizing both clarity and visual charm.
