Chen Qihao

Chen Qihao, a Lanzhou University student, was responsible for experimental validation of antimicrobial peptides' antibacterial efficacy in his research team. Using standardized agar diffusion assays, he conducted tests on rock wall-isolated bacterial strains with negative and positive controls, measuring inhibition zones of recombinant antimicrobial peptides from LP3, LP11, and engineered strains against rock wall-associated pathogens. He also extracted secreted antimicrobial peptides to verify their antibacterial activity. Additionally, he assisted in negative/positive control experiments for rock wall-isolated fungi and participated in validating antifungal effects of the team-developed antimicrobial peptide-producing strains.

I am a student from Cuiying College of Lanzhou University. My name is Jinzuo Han.I am responsible for testing the ability of modified bacteria to clean melanin and β-carotene in the iGEM team.In the genetically modified E. coli, there are plasmids for laccase, peroxidase, and scaffold proteins. My task is to determine whether the three enzymes can bind to form a complex and to test whether this complex has better cleaning ability on melanin and β-carotene compared to free laccase and peroxidase.In the team, I not only participate in conducting experiments but also in designing them. Additionally, during the experimental process, I handle the analysis of experimental failures or results that differ from expectations.

Hello everyone! I'm Li Shaoyang. I'm a member of the wet lab group in the project, and I'm responsible for plasmid purification and protein extraction in the experiments. My major is biotechnology, so I'm quite familiar with the knowledge related to my major, especially for this project. I've always been passionate about exploring the intricacies of biological processes and understanding how they can be harnessed for innovative applications. I look forward to learning from each of you and personally through this experience.

Wang Kaiwen

As a Clinical Medicine undergraduate at Lanzhou University and an active member of the LZU iGEM team, Wang Kaiwen contributed to the Human Practices group by developing and delivering educational outreach programs. He helped design interactive workshops and science communication materials for local schools and communities, making synthetic biology more accessible to the public. Through this experience, he enhanced his communication and collaborative skills and deepened his interest in the social dimensions of synthetic biology.

I am Ye Ziheng, a 20-year-old undergraduate from Guangdong, China, currently pursuing my studies in the Biology Cuiying Program (Class of 2023) at Cuiying Honors College of Lanzhou University. My interests include watching anime, playing badminton, table tennis, and basketball, and I aspire for world peace. My current research focuses on the developmental mechanisms of the apical meristem in Arabidopsis thaliana. Additionally, I am proficient in various biological experimental techniques such as botany, cell biology, and molecular biology, and have developed strong laboratory habits. In this year's iGEM project with the LZU team, I participated in and was responsible for designing the suicide cassette for engineered E. coli, testing its functionality, and optimizing its sequence, ultimately achieving the goal of preventing plasmid leakage.

As a medical student, I mainly participate in wetlab helping with the extraction of protein. About myself, I quite enjoy raising hypothesis and proving them in the lab. Every small success fascinates me. And I do thinks through iGEM I gain some synthetic biology skills, which you can't learn in medical research. I used to like complete all the experiment by myself, but I realize that without collaboration, such a comprehensive study in this competition is impossible for a single dog. That maybe the most precious lesson I learn from this encounter with everyone else.

I am a sophomore majoring in Biological Sciences at Cuiying Honors College, Lanzhou University, enrolled in 2023.
In our team's participation in the iGEM competition, I have been primarily responsible for the wet lab work. My core tasks have centered around the transformation, expression, and purification of plasmids containing genes for target proteins—specifically laccase, peroxidase, and scaffold protein. Additionally, I have designed and conducted experiments to detect the cleaning capabilities of these proteins.
Through meticulous experimental design, rigorous data collection, and continuous optimization of protocols, I have made significant contributions to advancing our project. I am fully committed to supporting the team and am eager to see ourcollective efforts lead to excellent results in the competition.

I'm Zhu Geyi, a third-year student majoring in Computer Science and Technology. My primary focus lies in the dry lab team, where I am responsible for antimicrobial peptide performance prediction by utilizing tools like Python for data analysis and evaluation.
A key part of my role involves curating and summarizing our dry lab findings, ensuring results are clear and accessible for the entire team. I also take part in promoting our progress to share the team's work with a broader audience.
To support our projects, I conduct background research using resources like the iGEM Registry and Google Scholar. I actively participate in weekly meetings to contribute to planning and discussions. I am passionate about leveraging computational skills to drive projects forward and thrive in collaborative team environments.

Sun Jiayue

I'm Sun Jiayue, a Big Data major at Lanzhou University and member of the Dry Lab Research Group. My core work: molecular dynamics simulations via GROMACS, focusing on antimicrobial peptides-cell membrane interaction.
Research covers two directions: Jiangshui antimicrobial peptides vs. Bacillus murinus cell membrane; PnAMP1's interaction mechanism with Candida albicans cell membrane. I use GROMACS to analyze structural changes, binding modes and dynamic behaviors, supporting antimicrobial peptide functional studies.

Huang Jiameng

I am Jiameng Huang, a third-year Bioinformatics student at Lanzhou University with a strong interest in synthetic biology and computational modeling.
I am responsible for performance prediction of antimicrobial peptides, constructing a genetic circuit mathematical model based on plasmids and the Hill equation, retrieving literature related to molecular dynamics simulations, and overseeing task allocation and progress monitoring in dry lab work.

Zhong Zixi

I am proficient in multiple programming languages, including Python, C, C++, and MATLAB, and have experience with microcontroller applications as well as basic circuit assembly and soldering. Currently, my primary focus is on computer vision research, specifically in the area of image super-resolution. In this project, I am responsible for translating abstract functions into concrete visualizations using Python and MATLAB, implementing code for image rendering, and comparing the results with real experimental data to validate the accuracy and authenticity of predictions.

Hello! I'm Jinze Lu, a mathematics major with a passion for computational biology, proudly part of our iGEM team. My academic I focus on two key areas: predicting AMP performance by analyzing sequence-function relationships to identify candidates with optimal activity and minimal cytotoxicity. This streamlines our experimental focus.
Additionally, I leverage MATLAB and programming skills to model genetic circuits, simulating their dynamics to predict behavior, optimize parameters, and ensure robust function—critical for refining our synthetic biology designs.

I also created team emblems, posters, leaflets and promo videos to showcase the team and project with unique design concepts. Additionally, I produced animations (e.g., on genetic engineering principles) and short videos (recording work processes) to boost project promotion and appeal.

Hi, I'm Liu Yinghao, a senior majoring in Digital Media Technology at LZU, and also the leader of the wiki&art team. I have a passion for art and theater, and am eager to explore the beauty of the humanities. Yang Yating from LZU,as the head of the HP group,participated in the overall project design in the early stage of the project.During the project,she was responsible for operating the WeChat official account,WeChat video account,and TikTok account,as well as writing some manuscripts and editing videos.She also participated in the interviews,surveys,and data sorting of the comprehensive human practices,and wrote the iHP manuscript.She arranged and participated in the online exchange with the iGEM team XJU and completed the Partnership manuscript.In addition,she participated in the science popularization activities in Gansu Science Museum,the publicizing activities on campus,and the writing of the Education manuscript.
