The core advantage of synthetic biology lies in its capacity to efficiently construct complex biological systems via the "building block assembly" strategy—different biological components within this framework serve precisely as the core "building blocks" for implementing this strategy. These components exhibit standardization and well-defined functions, and can be flexibly combined according to research and design requirements, which can then be assembled into target-specific functional modules. Such functional modules can precisely align with design objectives, thereby transforming abstract research concepts into actionable biological functions and providing critical support for the construction and application of complex biological systems.
We have primarily adopted several basic components, with lactase (β-galactosidase) and lactose pump (lactose permease) serving as the main components, along with the pGAP promoter, LuxS (BBa_25D94UKL), and MucBP (BBa_25MHNS1O). These components are used to optimize our Lacbutler system, enabling it to achieve better colonization in the intestine and enhanced biological safety.
