CAO YUE

Hi everyone ! I am Yue Cao(Grace) from Malvern College Qingdao. I have had a strong interest in biology since I was in junior high schoo. As I grew older, I started to realize the importance of genetic modification and synthetic biology. When I’m not focused on academics, I love traveling to broaden my horizons and playing a range of sports to stay active. Being on this iGEM team is such an exciting milestone: it lets me explore synthetic biology, a field I’ve long wanted to learn more about, and use biotechnologies to make a tangible difference in the world. I’m really looking forward to this journey.

Hi, I’m Yuqin Zhang, a senior 1 student at The High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China (Tongzhou Campus). I’ve been passionate about molecular biology since junior high, when I first discovered its infinite possibilities. I'm excited that IGEM offers me a platform for a realistic and practical experiments, as well as a chance to meet new friends and exchange ideas.

I always think biology as my favorite subject, I participated in many biology competitions in my first year of high school. I’m going to study business in the future. Hi, my name is Xinrun Yang, a 18 year-old student and the leader of the 2025 iGEM team “whey2go.” My early fascination with biology, sparked by family influence and the curiosity to explore new dimensions, grew alongside my passion for competitive sports, which deepened my curiosity about health, science, and innovation. As team leader, I feel honored to guide our group in turning ideas into real impact, and I look forward to learning, collaborating, and growing with my teammates throughout this journey.

HI my name is Nico, a 16 years old boy from the 2025 IGEM team “whey2go”. Since I was a kid my willingness to learning biology was sparkled be my mom who works as a doctor. Furthermore, grown up, I discovered that I hold a great interest on playing football. This is which triggered greater curiosity on me, since I’m would really like to know more about how to live in a healthier way, appropriate methods to deal with injuries, and etc. Hence, I’m honored to be a part of this activity. I sincerely hope that I could learn a lot during the process.

Hey everyone, I'm Yutong Du. I'm a high school student , and I'll be starting 11th grade this coming semester. I’m really passionate about sport and photography, and my favorite subject in school is Biology.Through my involvement in the iGEM competition, I have not only strengthened my hands-on laboratory skills but also developed the ability to approach complex problems from multiple perspectives. Hey everyone , I’m Jingwei Wu. I'm a high school student from Beijing, and I'll be going into 11th grade next year. I’m very into musicals and movies, and biology is my favorite subject. During the process of the iGEM competition, I was on the wet lab side and gained problem-solving skills as well as multiple aspects of knowledge. Hi! I’m Meilin Ning, a senior from the International Department of Chengdu Foreign Languages School. While I’ve always been interested in biology, my main contributions to iGEM are on the dry lab and project design side. I focus on tasks such as data analysis, project conceptualization, writing, and connecting our scientific work with broader social impact. Through iGEM, I’ve learned how biology is not just about experiments, but also about communication, teamwork, and the integration of science into society. This experience has shown me the importance of bridging research with real-world applications, and I hope our project can demonstrate how synthetic biology can bring meaningful change.

Hi, everyone! I'm Lucas Zhao from Ningbo and I'm now studying in Shanghai WLSA. You may think I am shy at first, but I'm actually very friendly to everybody and I love talking to others. I love playing piano and I have played it for 13 years. Badminton is also OK and I like doing sports. As a member of our team, I did a lot of writing things and also analysises. I love my team and all the members are friendly to me. IGEM has taught me so much and it also boost my critical thinking skills.

I'm Kuanzhi(Alan) Li, a Beijing National Day School junior. I am very passionate about photography because it has the magic of documentation. Even years later, images can recreate the beauty of our memories in an immersive way. Apart from that, I am also passionate about exploring science and the beauty of nature. I have always been fascinated by the wonder of life and the complex mechanisms behind it. Hi! I’m Lanxin Cui. Since childhood, I’ve harbored a deep fascination for biology. In high school, I further explored this passion by participating in the British Biology Olympiad (BBO)，where I delved into diverse biological concepts—from foundational theories to cutting-edge advancements. This experience reinforced my belief that biology offers a unique lens to understand the world, bridging macroscopic phenomena with intricate molecular mechanisms. As a wet lab member of our iGEM team, I immersed myself in intensive experiments, from DNA assembly to protein characterization. Collaborating with teammates to troubleshoot protocols and optimize results, I gained hands-on skills in synthetic biology while witnessing how interdisciplinary approaches shape real-world solutions. This journey deepened my appreciation for translating biological knowledge into societal impact.

I am Yuxuan Zhang from Suzhou North America High School, a rising senior. I am passionate about biology and have pursued both coursework and independent projects that explore how life functions at the molecular and organismal levels. I earned a score of 5 on AP Biology and extended my interest by conducting research on circadian rhythms using fruit flies, as well as studies related to oxidative stress and aging in model organisms.
