Introduction

CABIO is a pioneering leader in biotechnology and a benchmark for innovation in China's bio-industry, dedicated to advancing global health and nutrition through biomanufacturing. As a testament to its technological strength and market leadership, CABIO is the first bio-tech enterprise in Hubei Province to be listed on the prestigious STAR Market. Founded in 2004, CABIO was one of the first in China to leverage precision fermentation for key nutrients like ARA and DHA.

The company has mastered a complete industrial chain powered by synthetic biology, spanning from advanced strain optimization and precision fermentation to high-purity downstream processing. Its products, including ARA, algal DHA, and HMOs, are trusted globally for safety and sustainability, backed by certifications like FDA GRAS and EU Novel Food. This commitment to excellence is matched by their dedication to sustainable, low-carbon development under ESG principles, making them a powerful force in the global bio-economy.

Special Efforts

As a company built on the power of synthetic biology and cell factories, CABIO is proud to support the iGEM competition, and their commitment to our team this year was truly exceptional. Beyond providing a generous financial sponsorship of 50,000 RMB, their support was deeply integrated into our learning journey. They offered invaluable, expert feedback that helped refine our project's direction and technical approach.

Moreover, CABIO took the initiative to foster a broader community of innovation by organizing a hands-on industrial learning tour in Wuhan and hosting a mini-forum that brought our team together with other iGEMers for collaborative exchange. This multifaceted partnership went far beyond sponsorship, empowering us with financial resources, expert guidance, and priceless industry connections.

Huimin YU
Professor

Introduction

Professor Yu is a distinguished tenured professor and a leading scholar in advanced biomanufacturing and synthetic biology. She is dedicated to developing high-performance biocatalysts and innovative cell factory technologies for industrial applications. As the Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Industrial Biocatalysis (Ministry of Education), her research has made significant contributions, especially in the development of Rhodococcus as a robust chassis for bioproduction. She has led over 50 projects, including those funded by the National Key R&D Program of China, the 973 Program, the 863 Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Her research focuses on the fundamental scientific studies and industrial practices of Rhodococcus whole-cell catalysis, microbial cell factories for metabolites, and bio-based single-atom metal catalysis. She has published over 160 papers in journals such as ACS Nano, Biotechnology Advances, Metabolic Engineering, ACS Catalysis, and ACS Synthetic Biology, authored 5 book chapters, and has applied for or been granted over 80 invention patents.

Special Efforts

As a key advisor to our team, Professor Yu provides support that extends far beyond scientific guidance and resources. She actively shaped our project's direction with sharp, actionable advice, critically identifying potential flaws and guiding us towards more robust solutions. Furthermore, she bridged the gap between academia and the real world by arranging an invaluable visit to Beijing In-Genomics, enabling us to have frontline dialogues with industry experts. Her commitment was also demonstrated through direct financial support; she generously sponsored our team with 30,000 RMB for experimental expenses, ensuring our project is not only built on scientific rigor but also deeply connected to industrial relevance and practically achievable.

Tanwei College
Tsinghua University

Introduction

As one of the colleges established by Tsinghua University to implement the Ministry of Education’s "Strong Foundation Program", Tanwei College undertakes the talent cultivation task for the major of Chemical Biology (including the engineering integration track). Chemistry and biology are fundamental sciences that study the principles of substance creation and unravel the mysteries of life and nature. In contrast, disciplines such as chemical engineering, environmental science and engineering, biomedical engineering, and pharmaceutical science are committed to translating the outcomes of basic research in chemistry and biology into advanced technologies and products, for the benefit of humanity's better life.

Tanwei College is dedicated to bringing together two groups of outstanding talents: exceptional young individuals and distinguished scholars, thereby facilitating the relay of the torch of ideals and the inheritance of exploratory efforts. The aforementioned disciplines that Tanwei College relies on have nurtured a large number of academic masters, industry leaders, and statesmen, whose remarkable contributions have been etched in history. It is believed that the contributions of Tanwei students will find their place in the grand tapestry of human civilization.

Special Efforts

All students on the Tsinghua-M team are from Tanwei College, which has provided crucial and multifaceted support for our project's advancement. Financially, the college granted us at least 120,000 RMB. Academically, various professors offered invaluable guidance and assistance with our research and project progression, providing many useful suggestions and insights. It is precisely with this comprehensive support that we not only successfully carried out and completed our human practice work but also earned the valuable opportunity to compete in France. This has laid a solid foundation for both the implementation of the project's practical phase and the achievement of our international exchange goals.
