CHUN LI
Chun Li, distinguished Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering, Tsinghua University, and the esteemed supervisor of Tsinghua-M. He has been focusing his research on biotransformation and synthesis of plant (licorice) natural products in microbial cell factories, engineering application and reprogramming industrial microorganisms with multiple-stress resistance via constructing Multilevel Defense System (MDS), and microbial control and plant health since 2000.
Professor Chun Li is passionately committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists, actively encouraging young students to participate in synthetic biology through the iGEM competition. Under his guidance, the teams he has led have achieved a remarkable streak of Gold Prizes at the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) from 2012 to 2019.
Last year, he led the Tsinghua-M 2024 team to participate in the iGEM competition and once again achieved a Gold Medal, continuing his legacy of excellence.
