First, our team performed additional characterisation of existing parts and added them to the parts list. We performed additional characterization of the promoter NarX/NarL and added the data to the Registry of Standard Biological Parts.
Secondly, we added a New Basic Part to the component database. Kynureninase (KYNase) is a PLP-dependent enzyme that is a member of the transaminases or alpha family, subgroup IV, the largest family of PLP-dependent enzymes, with a monomeric molecular weight of approximately 45 kDa. Because of the lack of data on this KYNase, we have characterized it produced by Pseudomonas fluorescens. and added it to the Registry as a New Basic Part.
We also added New Composite Parts to the Registry - we constructed five different plasmids to express and characterize the KYNase, the lysis protein PhiX174E, and the suicide switch.
We have produced various related products, and also collaborated with other teams to create a series of children's picture books and courses on biology. We have also produced professional PowerPoint presentations on biological science for different age groups. Some of the educational materials are available in five languages: Chinese, English, Korean, Spanish, and French. Considering the needs of people with hearing and visual impairments, we have also produced braille manuals and sign language videos. All of these are freely and openly available to the public. We hope to promote public and minority science education by providing these resources to the public.
