Rushen Tao

I’m Rushen, a tenth-grader from Hefei No.1 High School and an INTJ through and through. With a deep passion for biotechnology and biomedical science, I joined iGEM hoping to explore how synthetic biology can not only decode life—but redesign it for the better. As someone who thrives on logic, planning, and turning ideas into structured systems, I naturally found myself drawn to the more analytical and research-driven parts of our project. Whether it’s literature review, experimental design, or long hours of troubleshooting protocols, I love diving into the “why” behind the science. Outside the lab, you might find me immersed in medical documentaries or sketching out ideas for my next science fair. I believe the future of medicine lies at the intersection of biology and engineering—and iGEM is the perfect place to start building that future. Oh, and fun fact: I name my pipettes after Greek philosophers. “Plato” always gets the job done. Probably.
