Our iGEM Journey Begins Here! We wish a successful and rewarding season!
The AramaWell project focuses on the synthetic biology production and development applications of linalool. Linalool is a monoterpene alcohol compound with the scent of lily of the valley, widely used in the fragrance, cosmetics, and food industries. It has biological activities such as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and neuromodulatory properties. The traditional production methods of linalool include natural extraction and chemical synthesis, but there are problems such as high costs and resource limitations. The AramaWell project utilizes synthetic biology technology to produce linalool through microorganisms, aiming to break through these limitations and achieve stable and efficient green production.
In project design, we chose Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae as the chassis organisms to improve the synthesis efficiency of linalool through cross species optimization. Using AI assisted design to enhance the thermal stability of linalool synthase, constructing a dynamic metabolic regulation system to achieve spatiotemporal regulation of linalool synthesis and host growth. In addition, we developed a biomimetic delivery system to improve the stability and release performance of linalool, breaking through the blood-brain barrier and enhancing brain bioavailability.
Regarding technological innovation, the project achieved multiple breakthroughs. We constructed a red light induced gene circuit to precisely control carbon flow allocation; For the first time, the fusion expression of linalool synthase and FPP synthase increased GPP flux; Using lignin degradation products instead of glucose, thereby reducing costs and increasing carbon conversion rates; Developed sustained-release technology and brain targeted design is to avoid the concentration fluctuation risk of traditional inhalation therapy.
In terms of product design, the AramaWell project has developed a series of innovative products, including intelligent sleep aid ecosystems, environmental purification and health protection products, functional textile and wearable products, innovative food and health management products, and environmental and sustainable development products. These products cover multiple fields from high-end health management to environmental sustainability, with broad market prospects and economic benefits.
In the future, the project will continue to explore the potential application value of linalool, continuously optimize synthetic biology production technology, strengthen market promotion, and promote the sustainable development of linalool industry.
