PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ambapua, Berhampur

Our second visit took us to PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ambapua, right in the middle of their STEM Week celebrations. It was the perfect setting for our sessions, since our work connects science, technology, and innovation in a way that naturally aligns with the spirit of STEM.

Parallel Sessions

Unlike our earlier visit, this day was divided into three parallel sessions across different classes. Each group had its own focus, shaped by age and level of understanding.

Classes 3 to 8

With the younger students, we started with the basics of our TLM—introducing elements, biosphere needs, and how contamination happens. We then moved into a live demonstration of the filter process, showing how pore size and particle size influence what gets trapped and what escapes. The session stretched into a three-hour long conversation, but their curiosity and excitement never dimmed. They asked questions, shared answers, and kept us engaged as much as we kept them.

Classes 9 and 10

For the Class 9 and 10 students, we began with the same introduction and built on it by drawing the bridge between biology and synthetic biology. The students quickly caught on to the differences and possibilities. To make the session interactive, we conducted quizzes, which sparked discussion and gave them a sense of participation in the learning process.

Class 12 Science

With the senior-most students, we shifted focus towards career pathways and future opportunities. We spoke about how synthetic biology opens new frontiers and how one can pursue higher studies and research in this field. We also shared our project promotion video, connecting our scientific journey with their possible futures. The room buzzed with questions about courses, colleges, and career choices—a reminder that the next generation is already looking ahead with clarity.

In Reflection

The visit to KV Ambapua was unique because of its diversity in engagement—small children with wide-eyed curiosity, teenagers with sharp questions, and senior students thinking about their future paths. It was STEM Week in spirit and in practice, and for us, it became a day of shared energy and inspiration. For details of our common resources, please see the Teaching Learning Material (TLM).
