PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gopalpur Military Station, Gopalpur, Berhampur
Our final school visit for this series took us to PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gopalpur Military Station, during the school’s STEM Week celebrations. As with the previous schools, each session began with a brief introduction to our team, our project, and the objectives of the day.
Parallel Sessions
We conducted three parallel sessions tailored to the different age groups, ensuring that every student had an interactive and memorable experience while connecting with STEM concepts in a hands-on, applied manner.
Class 10
For the Class 10 students, we began with the standard introduction, then conducted quizzes and a map-based activity linking contamination case studies to locations. The session concluded with sticker distribution, leaving students with a small keepsake to remember the discussion and stay mindful of environmental awareness.
Classes 4 to 5
The younger students enjoyed the storyboard game. They actively engaged with the creative activity, marking characters, events, and causes connected to metal contamination. The story-driven exercise helped them understand complex topics through a fun and interactive approach.
Classes 11 to 12
For the senior students, the session was more advanced. We explored metal contamination in detail, connected traditional biology to synthetic biology, conducted quizzes to reinforce key concepts, and discussed career pathways in research and synthetic biology. The students were particularly attentive and inquisitive, reflecting their readiness to explore scientific avenues in the future.
In Reflection
The Gopalpur visit, as part of STEM Week, was a fitting conclusion to our school outreach journey. Across age groups, students were curious, engaged, and enthusiastic. From storyboards to quizzes to career counselling, the sessions fostered awareness, learning, and inspiration.
